In the late 1970s Bob Nauheim’s fly pattern started to take serious numbers of fish about the time salt water fly fishing started to attract the attention of good numbers of travelling fly fisherman. One wonders what the early pioneers of salt water fishing would have achieved with this pattern early in the 1900s.

Ted McVay and his son, whilst staying on Andros in the Bahamas tied this pattern and every time a fish hit the fly their guide, Robert Leadon, would shout “Gotcha”. The rest is history - one of the most successful Bonefish flies ever created.
